I'd like to see one of the chat/IM projects going or the shell.

Yes I'd like to see this one get developed. It's been 'started' numerous
times by a variety of people but nobody ever helped really.

First we have to think of how to make the server, and how we are going to host it. A server in VDS is the best solution, but for that we'll need a Windows server. A PHP server on the other hand, can be hosted everywhere, but you can't make a direct socket connection with VDS, so you have to reload it everytime.

Edit1: Too bad that VDSWORLD isn't hosted on a Windows server like a few years ago... Sad

The previous Windows server which hosted vdsworld was extremely slow and would crash often. I'm really happy that we've moved it over to the dedicated servers. Windows is nice but on a shared system it's just going to cause way too many problems.

This is a really nice server now. It's fast, reliable, and is carefully
maintained by Prakash. Thumbs Up

I also agree that with a Windows server, you may be able to run Windows
programs, however, it lacks some features such a .htaccess that Apache/
Linux support. Very Happy

Actually .htaccess is available on Windows servers. I'm not sure if IIS supports it or not but I know Apache on Windows will support it.

Oh. OK, see, my whole Windows Server experience has been with IIS.
I didn't think about Apache for Windows Servers. Smile

And I prefer using the OmniHTTPd Pro server for Windows.

Actually if you're using FP extensions on your IIS server you can create
protected sub webs creating the same effect as using .htaccess,
although .htaccess is certainly easier. Smile

Hey now! I am nowhere near as old as Mac Smile that's almost impossible Smile. I'm certain I can take whatever abuse is required of me for the good of the VDSWORLD community. Smile
