Can the bitmap size be changed in the Table Element?

I know I saw something on this a while back but I can't seem to find it.

What I would like to do is use bitmaps where the height is 16 pixels but have varying widths since I don't think you can use more than one bitmap per line.

I though I would make a single bitmap where I could merge 2 or more bitmaps into one and use it in the Table element.

I guess what I'm really asking is can the 16X16 space for bitmaps in the first column be altered in any way?
