Usually from -10% to +50% or so (occasionally it
shows 100% when sysmon shows 5-6%). If I don't
make any keypresses or mouse movements for
1 or 2 minutes, it occasionally calms down close to
sysmon.exe. Otherwise it pretty much goes nuts...

Does anyone else have a cpu utility to check it
against?

I have a program here called RAM Idle that allows you to show Free RAM, Free System Resources or Processor Usage in the System Tray. When it's showing Processor Usage, it and PCView show pretty close to the same percentage.
I think the only reason PCView is off compared to other programs is how fast they update, PCView updates faster than RAM Idle and alot faster than System Monitor.
I think the faster it updates the better for this type of program though, up until it's slowing down other things of course.

Sysmon.exe updates every 500 ms (.5 seconds).
Shouldn't they agree every 1/2 second or so?

Currently that's how often PCView updates, so they should
match... It may be in the dll file. I'll take a look at the script as well
to see if It's in there.

On 98SE it's updating about every 2 seconds for me, much slower than PCView. Microsoft slow it down as Windows versions progressed?

I can say PCView stays close to RAM Idle, but of course they could be using the same procedure to find the usage.
Doesn't XP show processor usage in it's Task Info? Can anyone compare it to that? If PCView works in XP that is..

My sysmon.exe has an adjustable update interval:

Options>Chart

It ranges from 500ms to 1 hour.

For some(stupid) reason I was thinking Chart... under Options would lead to something else and never even checked it.
It was set for 3 seconds. I set it to 500ms and had it, PCView and RAM Idle running. PCView and RAM Idle run kinda close together, and Sysmon seems pretty out there, but for most of the time none of the 3 give the same reading. Is there that many ways to check processor usage?
BTW, just what would be the use of seeing your processor usage every hour? lol.
