I think the long silence tells it all ....... it's as good as dead.
Pity, as it was a good product, but with no activity or initiatives from CR VDS has bled to death.

Crying or Very sad

I sent an email about a month back asking for some help with one of my licences and I received an email stating that there is major changes comming to vds and how it is regestered

So take that any way you want. I realy hope there is a new version.

I'll have to see it before I believe it.
CR hasn't been doing much about VDS in the last couple of years and now most customers have switched to other products they promise a better registration method.
Mind you, just the registration not the product itself. To have a future VDS needs to keep developing the product itself and I don't see any movement in that direction at all.

Smile This happens to most people who program - you move onto another language that suits your needs. VDS is a great tool for quick programs and for beginners. But once you learn a little Delphi, C# or any other number of languges it's pretty straight forward and just as easy to create those same programs within a similar time frame.

Yes VDS lacks some things but the basic package can create great programs today. Features, updates and a better registration system are still needed but the product is more for the beginning programmer or one that would rather use a scripting system rather than a full development environment. It's like developing for iOS or Windows Phone 7 - there are some things you have to compromise on for your software/apps to work on those platforms - the same can be said with a scripting language - certain features and enhancements arent there to make the product more accessible and easier to use.
